MINISTER'S WELCOME

Our churches are more than just beautiful buildings. They are cornerstones within our communities as they offer sacred space where people can gather, share, and grow in faith.  We share a common mission within our church family to serve others within our community and to welcome in the stranger.
We hope that you will have a chance to visit and worship with us on Sundays at 10:30 A.M. at the Oromocto United Church at 144 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, NB.
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12:12: “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ”. We are a church family blessed by the individuals who have come together in faith to worship and share the love of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is working through the people of the Oromocto United Church. We hope that you will find this website helpful, as it is always nice to have visitors. We are an active church. As you visit our website may you notice the Spirit has touched the lives of those involved in the Oromocto Pastoral Charge.  Jesus tells us in John 10:10 “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”.

In Christ,
Reverend Lori Beth Sheffield-Bowles

Minister Emeritus Reverend Robert (Bob) Jones

Recognizing your pastoral leadership of this congregation since the year 1976, we bestow upon you the honor of being known to us and to others as Minister Emeritus of this congregation. In conferring this honor, we join with you in a continued appreciation for the pastoral office. And we pledge ourselves to continued concern for your health and happiness. We will hold you in our prayers and cherish the contributions you have made.

The term “Minister Emeritus” is used by a local church of the United Church of Canada to honor a person whose lengthy ministry in that local church has been one of distinguished service. So what do all these terms mean The word “Emeritus/a” has to do with being retired from active service while retaining one’s title as an honor. The retaining of title is offered because of merit earned during the time of active service. The honor is never an automatic one but rather is a recognition of exceptional service.
